At The Adams Center, we utilize a newer blepharoplasty technique called transconjunctival laser blepharoplasty.

Standard scalpel blepharoplasty techniques can cause the support for the eyelid to be lost when the surgeon cuts through the muscle which supports the lower eyelid. The scarring produced by the surgery tends to pull the eyelid down. If the patient has a lax lower eyelid to begin with, the situation is made much worse.

Transconjunctival blepharoplasty avoids injury to the supporting eyelid muscle by making a small incision with a laser through the conjunctiva (the pink part of the eyelid on the inside). The fat is then removed or repositioned from the inside and the lid is tightened.

Benefits of the transconjunctival laser blepharoplasty are:

No visible scar on the outside of the lower eyelid
Eyelid shape is not changed
Healing and recovery times are usually faster
Bruising is typically less severe
Sad eyed look or hound dog eyes is avoided
